Its been 2 weeks so far. No response. Not even a PEEP as to whether or not exclusive stocks or password protected packs are/will be allowed on deviantART.

We've had offers for free webhosting to put a 'request passworded stock' website up. Needless to say - many of us are already thinking of it in a serious way if dA doesn't start listening to one of their biggest galleries.

I'm being generous in the way of only showing icons for model stockers, since it was my model stock that was moved.

No notes. No comments. Not even a peep ANYWHERE.

I'm sure these discussions, IF they're actually happening, are being done behind closed doors... and won't be open to public until something has been decided.

Yeah, I know. That's stupid as all fuck.

Preach all you want about 'community -this' and 'community -that' but let's be frank here - community doesn't get a say in anything really.

Did I expect a lack of response? Actually, I think my blind hope lead me to believe I would get some kind of update from the admins.

Once again I was wrong.

I will, however, update again properly when there is some kind of news about whether or not they'll allow password protected stock on this site.

Until then - I've had offers come in for website space and site set-up for stockers on this site to upload their stock to.

A better protection system will be offered than the one that is currently in use here. Actually, let me rephrase. A protection system will be offered, UNLIKE on this site.

If there are any stockers on here that would be interested in posting their stock on a site that offers the stock artist ACTUAL PROTECTION, feel free to buzz me in a note or comment.

FAQ #809: Why was my stock image removed?
See that part that says 'No webcam/cellphone photos allowed in stock'?

So here's the thing. I've obviously been reported for posting my ACTUAL stock in the stock gallery.

I reported a blurry, sepia-toned, pixellated and SMALL photo taken from a webcam (the artist even admitted to it being a webcam shot) for going against the FAQ listed above.

It gets marked INVALID and kept in the stock gallery.

So I reported it again, this time quoting the FAQ, and once again it gets marked invalid.

So tell me, dA staff (whoever you may be) - do you just have a bone to pick with me or is this something you plan on doing to all of us?

BTW, according to FAQ #217: What are "Stock Photos" and can I use "Stock Photos" in my submissions?
Stock is something you can pay for! Go figure! So where, admins, is the distinction in the FAQ saying 'but you can't sell or buy stock on dA - you have to buy it elsewhere'? Am I blind? I'm not seeing it anywhere.

Time to update your FAQs, dA!

Hell, I didn't even know it was against policy to upload preview images of exclusive stock I have for sale. It does not state ANYWHERE in the ToS, Policy/Ettiquette OR in the FAQ/Help section of the site that I am not allowed to do so.

It doesn't even say I'm not allowed to post password protected stock packs that are free.

What gives?

Update your site or expect a lot more hoohah from me about this.

To all those HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS of stockers that upload exclusive stock.

To all those stockers that have started uploading password protected stock (I know at least a dozen doing it now)...

Straight from the mouth of $chix0r...

"In the interest of providing a true resource and stock gallery, you can't upload anything into as stock under a password protected file. You'll notice we don't allow stock for sale in these galleries either. Perhaps when we develop a marketplace you'll find this area much more suited to the way you wish to make your stock images available, but for now -- we neeed you to follow the gallery guidelines.

Please take some time to reply to the note which you will have received on this matter. Please also try to remember this in future not to upload anything into stocl/resources which contains a password protected file - this defeats the purpose of such gallery."


That's funny, you know. Since my resources ARE true. They are just a little harder to download.

So that is that.

Do not expect to see my stock on this site again.

Because passwords and exclusive are such a 'norm' around dA and admin has been enlightened to the extent it is uploaded... I have been told they will be talking about this over the next few days.

Fingers crossed. Otherwise there will be a shitload of very angry stockers around the barn.

Some of you know me well enough by now to know that when I fly off the handle... I really FLY OFF THE HANDLE.

All stock I have on this site is in storage.

Actually, I'm seriously contemplating just letting this one die.

I go through periods of needing a hiatus. To reinspire myself, to get away from the drama, because I can't be arsed any more...


I really just can't be arsed any more. I really, really can't.

What is the point?

Yes, it USED to be creative expression for me. But I've found other artistic mediums now.

Yes, I do like seeing the work people make with my stock. But I see a lot of art I like that DOESN'T use my stock as well. Why be greedy and only like art that uses me?


In the end, this latest storage escapade is because of someone that moved my 'miscatted' nude stock into Artistic Nude Photography category because I was trying to protect my own ass by putting password encryption on the packs I uploaded.

So dA wants something for nothing?

Fine.

I'll give them nothing in return.

The most draining thing about having a stock account is giving everything you have and more... and getting nothing or WORSE in return.

All my stock across all accounts is, therefore, in storage until someone in administration can help me out of my predicament.

Not only are the images manipped together to look realistic, all of us that judged loved the drama and action involved in the piece. The shading and lighting came out fantastically, the colour scheme is different and unique, and who the heck doesn't love Alien? Seriously.

This got 1st place by unanimous vote from the judges. This was the favourite for all of us. Maybe it was the brightness, maybe it was the fact it was the only entry that wasn't a photomanipulation, maybe it was the 'other side of sci-fi' or the fact that two sets were linked together in this way... or maybe it was all of the above and more. Whatever the reason, it stood out to all of us and thus has won first place in the contest. I still look at it and grin madly.
