Let me play the devils advocate for a moment here. You want password files to be available and the owners of this site don’t allow them. What makes you think that any amount of protesting with change that? Its obvious you want to be a part of DA that is why you cleared out your galleries twice and you are still here. You want to protect your self. Wise and understandable but from the moment you upload any of your photos on the internet you are exposed password or not. Lets see together the bigger picture and correct me where I am wrong. Say you win the argument and you are allowed pass images. What stops everyone from passwording entire galleries in the name of protection. Everyone would do it. So then manipulators would have to ask for a pass and wait for the models attention. Do you think that you would respond to 100 notes per day giving passwords to unlock files. That would result to loss of interest and reduction of creativity of everyone that would have to go in to this process. So the way I see it you got three choices.

1: You keep on doing what you are doing filling pages and journals with avatars of people that agree with you until your get bored or until that journal will not load from the hundreds of icons.
2: Upload only images that you feel they don’t expose you in any way.
3: Do that Riot-stock did here [link] . She quit modeling stock and provided other inspirational material. I hated loosing her but I am happy she is still with us.

I would like to hear what do you think.

Since dA continually say they hate the 'dAramallama' I was attempting to do something loud but somewhat peaceful by putting up a protest full of supporters' icons. Sadly dA doesn't pay attention to people willing to do things peacefully. They only succumb to the wishes of the drama lovers.

I am still here because, as someone else on here suggested, I should give it a month. If nothing was said in a month THEN I should pack up and leave. There was the hope that by the time 4 weeks had rolled around things would be resolved or at least had discussion open to more than just a few $$$'s behind closed doors. False hope.

I'm here on my art account still. Rarely posting. I do want to be a part of dA and being a part of the stock gallery means the most to me but I'm severing those ties now. I won't stock here again. I've run into so many troubles in the stock gallery in 3 years of being open and I've managed to get over them one by one. The problem this time is the admins are involved in the problem and they aren't doing jack-squat - so I'm ending my fight of pushing against a 50ft brick wall.

On the topic of stockers replying to hundreds of notes a day... some of the stockers I borrowed the password protecting from would easily get that much a day so I don't see a problem. As for me? I got about 5 a day on the account that got 'miscatted' and I was happy to do it. Its up to the individual stocker on whether or not they do it and if they see it as being useful to them. dA won't force it on them. Hell, we've got to get dA to 'allow' it first.

Agreed with all the three first paragraphs. The last one is tricky. There is no one who doesn’t want more control over his work. If passwords are allowed almost everyone who cares about exposure will used them in various amounts. You get 5 notes now that probably have nothing to do with password protection files because it is clear that there are for contest awards etch. To know the magnitude of the situation I direct your attention to [link] , [link] and especially [link] who receives about 600 per hour. And they have REAL exposure in all the meaning of the word. Can you imagine anyone getting a response from them? Just thing that whatever applies to you should apply in all people. The only place I have seen password protected files matter is in child stock. If I was going to release a photo of my kid I would like to have a basic clue if the person is an artist or something else.
There was an alternative but I didn’t get why you didn’t want to give it try. I assume that there are some packs you what to have pass worded and the rest normal. You can post the cover image of that pack and send by mail the entire RAR/ZIP. Not very fast but if we are talking about 5 request per day I think its less trouble then the current situation. Now, if you want to password half of your gallery well then we go back to my previous point.

I would hate to loose you too, but you have to do what is right for you.

I guess I didn't address that topic completely the first time.

My point was - stockers don't HAVE to password protect their stock. Fantasy, Fae and Marcus all have the choice to password protect their stock or not. I know right now at least Fae and Fantasy have exclusive stock. Its the same deal - only with exclusive stock you need to pay as well as getting the password or be linked to the offsite host. They have the deal with those incoming requests with the added need to check against who has paid for them and organise having the files sent out.

Exclusives have been widely used on dA to help stockers pay for things to make their accounts better. Many of the more popular stockers have been doing it for years. Stockers have started simply passwording packs of free stock and dA then has a fit. My view is that if they're condemning passworded free stock, they're also condemning uploads of exclusives - though there are slightly different beasts.

dA has had 'issues' with 'ay for' stock for a while but have let it slide because they haven't offered stockers an option of selling through dA. Since they would have such an uproar for removing or moving exclusive stock they've decided to pick on the free stock... which IS still available, just with a little initiative from the artist.

I seem to remember you saying that you hate drama llamas too.

None of this is likely to be relevant in the least to DA since they potentially have huge exposure risks to worry about in regards to allowing password locked files.

You're asking them to fabricate "A system that actually works" out of thin air just because you want it, that seems a bit like protesting at doctors for not having cured cancer yet or the bank for not having given you a no-repayment required loan.

Maybe they've forgotten about it...

But that means we can just keep on doing what we've been doing.

It would be nice if they'd let us know, though...
